When deciding where to board you horse there are a multitude of things you need to consider.
What conditions will my horse be in everyday?
Will my horse have its own stall indoors?
Is there bedding and mats for the horses?
What is the feeding schedule?
We believe all of these are non-negotiable items for the proper care of any horse, show or the everyday rider. When you board your equine family member with any farm there is a lot of trust placed in them, and you need to make sure they are well taken care of. Here is a list of questions a potential farm needs to be able to answer with confidence in addition to the ones above.
Can I ride my horse on the farm?
Does that come at an additional cost?
Do I have to schedule a time to ride?
Will my horse be blanked in the winter?
Are there fans in the stable to keep them cool in the summer?
How often does the bedding get changed?
Does the Vet come to the farm?
Do you offer Ferrier services?
Will you work with me if my horse needs special accommodations?
Is there a place to store my tack and equipment?
How often will my horse be groomed?
Will other people be riding my horse?
Using these questions will allow you to weed out farms that would be subpar for the care of an animal that is very near to your heart.
